Wow what a great beginning for the combined X=Change program at Liverpool Sports World, the first night has given the team an opportunity to impact 60 selected participants through workshops, friendly competition of soccer and a great dinner cooked by our passionate volunteers.

National Volunteer Week May 9th to 15th, 2011
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thank you to the more than 5 million Australians who volunteer. For the first time, in 2011 Sharp offered a limited number of employees the opportunity to take a day (on full pay) during National Volunteer Week, to help out at their preferred not-for-profit organisation.

On the 30th of October 2010, Inspire Community teamed up with Missions Australia for our annual Children’s Week Event. Held at Willan Drive Park, on one of the hottest days of spring we still managed to have an incredible 500 people attend the Children’s Week Event.

Many job seekers spend extended periods of time in search of the employment that best suits their skills and their circumstance. After a certain amount of time job seekers may even become discouraged in their search for employment.

Ask any leader or manager of an organisation what the cost of poor communication is in their company and you will get a variety of responses; wasted resource, conflict and tension amongst staff, lost customers, poor productivity, low morale and much more. Each of these factors are an important consideration for today’s manager. Expecting members of our teams to have the ability to effectively communicate without additional training is an unreasonable expectation. From a young age we are ingrained with thinking and communicating the ‘me first’. How do I get acceptance? How do I get my needs met? How can I get the person to see my point of view? I just want to be understood. Although these statements are not directly communicated they are often the underlying motive beneath our attempts at communicating with someone.
